Nintendo classics have all the time been ripe picks for indie reimagining. Collection like Mario and Zelda impressed greats like Shovel Knight and Tunic, and you may’t stroll 5 toes with out entering into the brand new metroidvania. However I assumed loads, the place was the Wario Land revival? Its mixture of high-speed platforming, exploration, and comically chaotic vitality made for a few of the Recreation Boy’s crown jewels.

Nicely, apparently I wasn’t the one one with this concept – prior to now few years, we have abruptly been getting an inflow of the likes of Wario, from the hack-inspired Antonball Deluxe and its upcoming sequel Anton Blast, to a Doom mod referred to as Treasure Tech. The pizza tower was introduced at first of the development, again in 2018, and now it is lastly right here. Seems it was well worth the wait.
